Laura Monk & High Cotton
In its show, The Old, The New, The Borrowed, The Blue, Laura Monk & High Cotton take the audience through an emotional landscape on which they can almost walk. As entertaining as they are talented, the band presents a show that pulls at the heart strings and tickles the funny bone as their music moves from dramatic ballads to ridiculously funny songs with the costuming to match.
Described as Americana-Folk Rock with a twist, the band is powered by the expressive, passionate voice of Laura Monk and complimented by driving acoustic guitar, lyrical bass lines, an eclectic mix of percussion and tasteful lead guitar--all wrapped in three and four part harmonies. An acoustic band with a pure acoustic sound , High Cotton’s musical styles range from Americana to Folk Rock with stops for Old Standards in between!
Combining soulful and devilishly passionate vocals from Laura Monk with the mix of rhythm guitar, deep bass undertones, an eclectic range of percussion instruments and smooth lead guitar, High Cotton creates a unique sound that sets it apart from the rest of Americana. Their original songs with a unique perspective stretches the Americana tag, and the result is memorable songs that stand apart.

Over 650 people hung on every note as this terrific group of musicians sang current country favorites and a few of their own songs. We were looking for an easy going, talented, southern, soulful band to perform . . . and we hit the jackpot. My delegates rated the program 4.8 out of 5.0 -- the highest score we have ever received.” --Liz Bittner, Executive Director, Travel South USA
